Day 39

Day 39
Location: Tilted Gabbro Campsite
Distance: 21 miles
Weather: Cold
Mood: Still happy the hot weather is gone

We woke up to 27 degree weather.  Some of the condensation and dew on my tent's rain cover was frozen and made the rain cover crunchy.  Even though it was a colder start to our hike than desired, it was so much better to be cold than over-heated.
Today was a milestone day as we achieved over 500 total miles for our journey.  Tomorrow we will hit 500 trail miles!
We entered the Heritage Chapter of the NCT.  We went through some private property farm fields. We traversed the brand new Tylerforks bridge, which just openned at the end of September.  It is an unusual bridge with a narrow walking space. We also hiked around Wren Falls, a very picturesque waterfall.  We even passed some old gold mining equipment.

We were tired from the long miles when we finally got to camp and happy to have completed our last over 20 mile hiking day of this incredible journey.
