Day 27

Day 27
Location: Pioneer Road campsite
Distance: 15 miles
Weather: Warm & sunny
Mood: Relaxed & ready for another early start

We got up at 5AM again to start hiking in the dark while the day's temperature is cooler.  The short first part of our hike was through Pattison state park before we started the road walk for the rest of the day.  Shortly after sunrise, we got a nice view of Little Manitou Falls.
Most of the rest of the hike from my view looked like this below.
We did see a hedgehog cross the road and hide in the tall grass as we walked by it.  The trees haven't lost their leaves much here like back in northern Minnesota.
We met our first Wisconsin NCT through hiker today.   He started in Michigan and only had a couple days left to finish going east to west, opposite our journey.  He said he had been hiking about two weeks, which is similar to our timing through Wisconsin.
We got to our primitive campsite in the early afternoon.  It is our first site that has no trees shading the tent area.  It is going to be a hot afternoon & evening at camp.
