The beginning!
I woke up from a dream about work, which is how I know it hasn't sunk in yet that we're really here! We had our last hotel breakfast, caught our shuttle up to the Northern Terminus and "looked at Canadian trees", as our shuttle driver put it, from the overlook near the border. I had been thinking about this moment for so long, and it passed before I could really process it. Suddenly we had signed the log, taken our first steps, and the hike had begun. The other end of the trail is 300 miles ahead and now each step is taking us closer. It still hasn't sunk in.
A beautiful first day though, sunny and warm. We heard some thunder and scrambled to set our tents up in camp but it passed north of us and hasn't rained yet. Now the sun is setting on the first day of many.
